We have practiced very intentional breeding practices in order to produce horses of excellence. While some of our breeding has been targeted at producing "show" quality horses, most of our breeding has been done with the intent of producing a good, sturdy, calm, well gaited and attractive trail horse. The trail horse seems to be the type of horse the majority of people are looking for. All of our horses are beautiful and possess that wonderful temperament which has become their trademark. Many of our horses have been featured on magazine covers and horse calendars. Our stallions' bloodlines go back to Dock, Kilburn's Chocolate Sundown, Sam Clemon's Tim, Choco, Yankee, Sewell's Sam, Buddy Roe, Storm Warning and Tom's Pride.

Located in Monroe, North Carolina, approximately 45 minutes from Charlotte, we specialize in offering the finest Rocky Mountain Horses and matching the ideal horse to the wants and needs of each individual buyer or rider.
All of our horses are bred for conformation, athletic ability and temperament, along with a smooth four beat gait. When most people think of gaited horses, they think of hot horses with exaggerated gaits that take a lot of energy and concentration to ride. Or, they think of a horse that needs big bits and extensive training to make them gait. At Rockin' Double J Farm, we are not interested in breeding that type of horse. Instead, we are dedicated to producing horses that are born with a natural, smooth four beat traveling gait, along with a calm, people loving personality. Our horses are bred so that when you hit the trail, you can sit back, relax and enjoy the beauty of the world around you.
Each and every horse horse offered for sale is personally selected by owners, Judy and Jim Mezzanotte based on temperament, composure and smoothness. Honesty, quality and paramount customer service are the foundation and substance of our reputation. We care about you and our horse's future. Our Rocky Mountain Horses only leave us to become family members.
Please feel free to come out, meet us, and get to know our wonderful horses. Contact us to make arrangements!
Rockin' Double J Farm is owned and operated by Jim and Judy Mezzanotte. We began our operation eleven years ago when our passion for riding developed into a passion for mountain horses. They are truly addictive! Rocky and Kentucky Mountain Horses are calm and loving horses that have earned a special place in our hearts. It started with each of us getting a personal horse. We now average 20 to 30 horses.
We are truly a family business: with the day-to-day operations being handled by Judy; the breeding operation being handled by Jim; the marketing being handled by our daughter, Karen; the training and riding being done by our grand-daughter, Cheyenne; and farm responsibilites being handled by our grandson, Christopher. We hope that this is the beginning of a family business to be handed down through generations.
Due to the relatively small size of our farm, we are able to maintain daily contact with our horses. They are led to and from the pastures each day. Their grooming is started at an early age, as well as farrier and veterinary care. For these reasons, once it is time to put them under saddle, the trust and confidence they possess makes it a very easy transition for them.
